This 150-acre (60.7 ha) park was named after the Archbald Pothole, a geologic feature found within. The pothole is 38 ft (11.6 m) deep and has an elliptical shaped diameter of 42 ft (12.8 m) by 24 ft (7.3 m). A small loop trail starting at the wayside follows an old coal mine road around the park.
