In the northeastern boundary of Luzerne County, Frances Slocum State Park spans 1,035 acres (419 ha) with the u-shaped Frances Slocum Lake as a centerpiece. Popular summer activities include camping, swimming, boating and hiking while in the winter the lake features ice-skating and ice-fishing. The park can be accessed from Carverton Rd. and West 8th St.
