Founded in 1980, the Greater Historical Society purchased the historic firehouse building in Hazleton and transformed it into the Greater Hazleton Historical Museum. The goal of the society and museum is to preserve the history of the Hazleton area through exhibits of artifacts and memorabilia along with a genealogical research center.
