Founded in 1986, the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts is located within a 1938 movie house and continues to reflect much of the building's original art deco nature. It is home of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and has featured many of the times biggest acts in music, film and theater.

After extensive restoration work the facility now features a spectacular decor with extensive gold leafing, muted walls and rich, deep blue curtains. The seating capacity is slightly over 1,000.
